Meals

It is funny how each person grows up thinking that certain foods are common in every household because they had it in theirs. For example, we always ate the Oriental Flavor of Top Ramen... except we called them Ninja Noodles, apparently it was the only way my mother could get my older brother to touch them. I remember the funny looks I got from my roommates when I told them I was making Ninja Noodles for lunch, and the even weirder look I got when they discovered it meant the Oriental Flavor (hello people, it is good, don't knock it until you've tried it)

I was thinking about the things that I feed my kids on a regular basis that other kids their age would have no clue what they were talking about.

Like Cinnamon Roll Sandwiches, a favorite breakfast item in our house.
What? You've never heard of it?
You take two slices of cinnamon swirled bread, smear on a thick layer of cream cheese frosting and enjoy.
My girls LOVE them!
I love that it is quick, easy and fills them up.
Here is Abby after enjoying such a meal.
It does tend to be messy.
But the girls don't seam to mind.
All clean, except for that streak of frosting that I missed in her hair, whoops.

Or how about eating something like this for lunch.
Its kind of fun coming up with new ways to display food.
And the girls really enjoy eating eyeballs and noses off of the faces.
Notice Sarah's lip? Sarah has had that split lip for about a week now, we can't get ride of it... grrr!

I'm always up for trying new things.
What kinds of one of a kind menu items do you have at your house?

We also had buttons (hot dogs cut in slices) along with mac and cheese. I think there are some siblings that still enjoy it....

Coat Sarah's lip with vaseline at bedtime. (Go in when she is sound asleep and slather it on.) She is probably licking it to make it feel better in the daytime. She could also be issued her very own tube of chapstick (if you think she won't color the walls or Abby with it!)

You are an amazing mama,
love you!

Pat will ONLY eat Oriental ramen. I buy a whole case of it at the grocery store. You can't even ask him to eat any other flavor.
Those breakfast sandwiches sound SO good! I'm going to have to try them. You are so creative, I've never thought of displaying food in a fun way. I'm going to have to come up with some fun ideas now! For breakfast June mixes Rice Chex and Cheerios in a bowl with yogurt. Yum...

Oh and, I'm sure you already knew this one, but in case you didn't it might be fun to try... When we were kids my mom use to make Micky Mouse pancakes, consisting of one large pancake for the head and two small pancakes for the ears and then we'd decorate them with chocolate chips, marshmallows, peanut butter, etc. That was always fun, I'm going to have to do that for June, after I introduce her to Mickey Mouse of course.

Haha Ninja noodles!:) That's funny! If my boys didn't already love ramen I'd use that one on them.
The cinnamon swirl bread w/cream cheese sounds yummy. I've spread cream cheese on toast before but not cinnamon. X and Fred love cinnamon, we sprinkle it their apples.
My mom was on a health kick once and smashed up cantelope and mixed it with ice cream. We were to dumb to notice and ate it all gone. I'm gonna have to think of some fun food ideas now. :)

Thanks folks. And Ash, that's cream cheese FROSTING. Probably the main reason my girls enjoy it. Its all about the sugar at our house.
