Unconvinced

Yup, unconvinced.

That is what the urgent care doctor was of my test results. They came back abnormal... showing that it was a UTI causing my uncomfortable symptoms, but since I put off going for about two weeks (trying to convince myself that it was just in my head) the doctor was skeptical that it was really a UTI. Made me feel like I was making it up or something, as if I wasn't already second guessing my decision to go to see a doctor. It also didn't help that he asked me a couple of times if I was pregnant.

Dr: Well, it seems atypical that you've gone this long with the symptoms of a UTI with out coming in for care.
Me: *shrugs with an awkward chuckle*
Dr: Hmm... well, is it possible you could be pregnant?
Me: HA! Um, no. I don't think so.
Dr: Hmmm...Well you see... blah, blah, blah, blah... are you drinking enough water, blah, blah.
Me: *nodding*
Dr: Are you sure. There isn't a possibility you're pregnant?
Me: Positive.
Dr: Well, just in case I'm sending out your sample to get cultured so that we'll know for sure if it is a UTI.

Are you trying to tell me something doctor? You do have a quick test you could stick in that urine sample to see if I AM pregnant. But I'm not. My monthly visitor even showed up this morning to confirm that fact. Maybe I should call him and tell him the good news. Maybe then he'll be convinced that it really is a UTI (like the test results showed) and that I am, in fact, not pregnant. Hahaha... *sigh* doctors kill me (No offense Ryan).

Life is funny. We're having a fun week at our house.

PS - Hey Doc, want to know why I put of going to the doctor. First,  I have two kiddos and getting to the doctor is tough (not to mention the fact that I am currently the "widow" of a medical student) and Secondly, I don't like going to the doctor and dealing with stuff like this. *sigh*

***NEW***
After a concerned call from my sweet Daddy, I feel I better clarify some things.
UTI is a Urinary Tract Infection. The doctor did give me antibiotics, so I should be just fine.
I was just venting a little... this is all supposed to be in a humorous tone. :)
Love you Dad! Thanks for checking up on me.

cI get those all the time when I run the longer distances right around that time of the month. Extra, extra water before, during, and after my runs stopped them. Good luck! Stinkin' doctors! lol ;)

I've had more than enough UTI's in the last year to last me a lifetime. I used to put off going in too because I thought I could clear it up on my own... until the Dr. told me if you let it go too long (and you get too many) it can cause kidney infection. Yikes! So don't feel one little bit guilty about trying to get treatment even if the Dr. is unconvinced!

Oh I hope that you get feeling better soon. Doctors can be a little "off" sometimes. I've only been to mine once, but I'd recommend him. He even had same day scheduling.

Yuck! Hope you're feeling better soon, Liz! (Yay for antibiotics!)

We're dealing with tummy flu around here. Eleanor has it today, Wimmy had it last week. I'm just hoping I don't end up with it. Ah, sickness.

I hope you're feeling better! Why is it that doctor's don't listen??? My husband had pnemonia a couple months ago and when I got super sick a couple days later I went in to urgent care complaining of a severe headache and wanted to make sure I didn't have pnemonia (I know pnemonia isn't contageous) So they cleared me for pnemonia and I asked are you sure? and the doctor asked- Do you even feel sick?- Umm, Mr Dr it's written on my paperwork (I know cause I wrote it) and I told you first off that my head feels like I'm about to die. Thanks for caring. He took me seriously after I "reminded" him about my headache. Oh and my fever was at 103. mmhmm.
