This past Sunday the Carnegie Library did a huge carnival to kick off their summer reading program. And since it was free, we felt it was a great family activity to do on Sunday. It was so much fun.
We were going to walk there (which is close to 3 miles), but there were giant looming clouds, so we drove to a near by park (Dinosaur Park) and walked from there. Still was a pretty good walk, so I was excited to get a little exercise in there too.
Right after we arrived there were lots of characters for Sarah to meet and hug. She was so excited, and she didn't even know the characters... we really need to go to Disney World,
she'd flip!
I don't know who this is, but it was there with some Art school... probably a moon goddess.

I think the only games that these organizations thought the kids would enjoy was fishing... because it was everywhere.
Such a little cheater... sticking the fish on, then pulling it out of the water...tricky tricky!
She was excited for this one because she got a swedish fish afterwards... I wanted a turn too!
This one was cool, but really hard, the hook was angled and the way the fish was laying it was hard to get it. We did eventually.
I was surprised that Sarah wanted to do it every time. I thought she'd get tired of it.
We did do other things... it wasn't all fishing.
Sarah made her own bookmark with that cool scratch away black paper.
Sarah and I {finally} got our Library Cards (Ryan got his like the first week we were here).
We all got Smiley cookies... well not Abby, look at her eying that thing.
Sarah made a tiara and I quickly made one for Abby.

And of course we had to play in the dirt!
Abby was very patient the whole time... sort of.
It was lots of fun, and the best part was on the walk back to the car BOTH girls fell asleep in the stroller and Ryan and I were able to just enjoy each others company {peacefully}.
I am so glad that we went. It feels like the first real thing we've done in Pittsburgh. Sure we've gone to museums and things, but this was the first once a year event that we attended, and we are definitely going again next year!

Man, if I had a lot of money I really would come visit you. Pittsburg looks so fun. All the different museums and stuff you go to. I know it probably doesn't feel like it but your one lucky girl to move away and experience another state. The older I get the more I want to. :) Very cute and colorful pics!

Hey, I've been meaning to tell you to go to the Bruster's Ice Cream shop in Greenfield (down the hill from Rialto Pizza). Once a week -- I think it's Wednesday or Thursday? -- they have a deal where if you bring a banana from home, you can buy a banana split for 1/2 price. Considering that they also give away free ice cream cones to kids under 4' tall, it usually meant that we could get enough ice cream to satisfy our whole family for less than $5. And it's a nice walk to get there! Just a tip . . .
@Brooke - Bruster's is closed. They closed up about a month or two after we moved here... or at least that is when the sign got changed to a new business. I am bummed that sounded like a great Wednesday tradition we could start. :(
