So right now Pittsburgh is having Radical Days - which are days where various cool to visit places have free admissions! Super cool, right? And on Monday the Phipps Conservatory was free. So, my friend Tiffany and I (and our kids) went. It was lots of fun, and we were surprised that it wasn't all that packed. I mean there were people there, but it wasn't over crowded. Just perfect! Here are some pictures from the visit!
Here is a shot of the gang.
(Left to Right: Tif, Kylee, Cody, Sarah, Liz & Abby)
Its hard to see but Cody and Sarah are watching butterflies in that blue thing with the yellow center. The butterflies kept flying right over their heads. The kids thought it was awesome!
They have a section just for kids where they can push buttons to turn on water and they have half a dozen watering cans lying around for the kids to water the plants.
I think these plants got watered for the next month or so.
We've been having a couple of cold, rainy days and it was gorgeous outside...still no chance I am going to get Sarah to look at the camera though.
Abby really enjoyed being out and seeing all of the plants. She was squealing, but of course by the time I decided to get a shot of her she was really tired and soon thereafter fell asleep.
This was supposed to be a really cute picture...alas, my daughter refuses to cooperate. *sigh*
Throughout the conservatory there were beautiful pieces of glass artwork by Hans Godo Fräbel. They were pretty impressive. I didn't get a picture of it, but throughout this one room there were these tall skinny alien looking guys with big hands. Every time the kids saw them they would giggle hysterically.
Here are some of the ones that I did snap a shot of.
There were tons of pretty clear and intricate pieces, but I failed to catch them in a photo. Oh well, I guess you'll just have to come to Pittsburgh and visit me to see them. *wink wink*

That looks cool! Looks like everybody had fun!
Kwel. I remember Brooke's blog about this so long ago. Looks fun.
Yay! I was going to blog about the RADical weekend, but it looks like you already discovered it! I miss the Phipps, Red Butte Gardens just isn't the same. Oh -- the big alien glass guy was made by Frobel, but the glassworks you posted pictures of are from the Chuhuly exhibit that the Phipps did about 2 years ago. (It was so popular, the conservatory purchased some of the pieces.)
