Nauvoo: Rest Area

So many of my friend in Pittsburgh don't know how I love spontaneity.
So imagine their surprise when they heard I was up for taking a spur-of-the-moment
TWELVE HOUR road trip to Nauvoo with my friend, Joan.

Yes, twelve hours... it was long, but the kids did so well.

Here are some pictures from the rest area we stopped at for lunch/dinner.
 Stretching those legs.

Thumbs up for the sunshine!

We had fun poking rocks...

and climbing trees.

But most of all, the kiddos loved picking dandelions.

There were thousands of them.

They piled them all up on a bench... I should have gotten a picture of the final pile, it was huge.

Sarah taking a break from picking flowers to bask in the sun.

The kids had so much fun at just a plain ole' rest area, it got me so excited to get to Nauvoo!!!

Oh my gosh Liz! I love that first pic of Abby and the second pic of Sarah in the tree. She looks like a lil cartoon character. Spur of the moment trips are the best kind. That's sorta how my San diego trip was. I wasn't for sure going until like 2 days before. Plus road trips are awesome! I don't know if I'd brave it with kids tho. :)
